Terms of Use

In effect from the date of publication · raumschach.org

This website is free to use for any lawful purpose. Its content is the original work of the IRF and may not be reproduced without attribution. The game client runs entirely within your browser and transmits nothing to any server. Federation membership is governed by the IRF Charter. No warranties are given and liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

I. Acceptance of These Terms

By visiting or using any page of the International Raumschach Federation website at raumschach.org, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not accept these terms, please do not use this website. Your continued use of the site following any revision to these terms constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of the website only. Federation membership and participation in IRF-sanctioned play are separately governed by the IRF Charter, which takes precedence over these terms in all matters pertaining to membership, ratings, and tournament conduct.

II. Nature of the Website

The IRF website is a static collection of HTML files served directly to the browsers of visitors. It contains no server-side scripts, no database, no login system, no shopping cart, no comment system, and no user accounts of any kind. No registration is required to browse the site or to use the game client.

The site is provided as a public resource for the Raumschach community and for anyone with an interest in three-dimensional chess. Access is offered without charge and without condition, subject only to the provisions of these terms.

III. The Game Client

The Raumschach game client (raumschach.html) is a self-contained JavaScript application that runs entirely within the browser of the visitor. No game data, no move history, no engine output, and no session information is transmitted to any server at any point during or after a game session. All computation occurs locally on the device of the visitor, and all data generated during a session is discarded when the browser tab is closed.

The game client is provided for personal, educational, and competitive use. You may use it to play, analyze, and study Raumschach without restriction.

IV. Intellectual Property

The textual content of this website — including the IRF Charter, tournament records, theoretical articles, and all original prose — is the original work of the International Raumschach Federation and is protected by copyright. The IRF logo and associated visual marks are likewise the property of the IRF.

The rules of Raumschach as devised by Ferdinand Maack (Hamburg, 1907) are in the public domain. No claim of ownership is made by the IRF over the rules of the game itself, over the 5×5×5 board geometry, or over the standard piece movements of Raumschach.

V. Permitted Use

Use of this website for any lawful purpose is permitted. The site is intended for personal, educational, and competitive engagement with Raumschach, and the IRF welcomes visitors of all backgrounds and skill levels.

You are welcome to link to any page of this website from any other website, publication, or communication, without prior permission. Deep linking to specific sections is equally welcome.

VI. Prohibited Conduct

Although this website offers no interactive features, server-side processing, or user accounts, the following conduct is prohibited in connection with any use of raumschach.org:

VII. Federation Membership and Submitted Content

Persons who correspond with the IRF administrator for purposes of membership, tournament registration, or game score submission do so voluntarily. The handling of all correspondence and personal data submitted in that context is governed by the Privacy Policy.

Game scores submitted to the IRF for rating are published in the Results register in accordance with the IRF Charter. By submitting a game score, both players consent to its publication under their member names. No other submitted content is published without the explicit consent of the sender.

Membership in the IRF, including all rights and obligations arising from membership, is governed exclusively by the IRF Charter. These Terms of Use do not confer, limit, or modify any membership rights.

VIII. External Links

Pages on this website may contain links to external sites. When you follow such a link, you leave raumschach.org entirely and enter a site that is beyond the control of the IRF. The IRF has no responsibility for the content, accuracy, legality, or practices of any external site, and the presence of a link does not constitute endorsement of that site or its content.

IX. Disclaimer of Warranties

This website and all content and software provided through it are offered on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The IRF makes no warranty that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, nor that any defect will be corrected.

The IRF makes no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose of any content on this website, including theoretical articles, opening analysis, and historical records. All such content is offered for informational purposes only.

X. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the International Raumschach Federation, its administrator, and its contributors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, this website or any content or software provided through it, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory on which any claim is based, whether in contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

XI. Changes to These Terms

The IRF reserves the right to revise these Terms of Use at any time. Revised terms will be published at this address with the date in the header updated accordingly. Your continued use of the website after any revision constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. Given the deliberately simple and static nature of this site, material changes to these terms are not anticipated.

XII. Contact

Questions regarding these Terms of Use may be directed to the IRF administrator at the email address published on the Charter page.
